View this email in your browser Sunday, 10/17/2021 Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying Striketober. Now let’s talk about news that made me angry, sad, and glad. News that made me angry Starbucks has closed 2 stores that were attempting to Unionize in Buffalo, New York answering the age old question, does my latte come with a splash of exploitation? This news makes me angry because we live in a world where companies like Starbucks pretend to have a good image while openly doing evil things because they’ve gotten so cocky that nothing will happen to them. Where is the commitment to pretending to be a good corporation? No mask for your super villain face? Like how can you commit to selling fair trade coffee while openly preventing fair trade from happening in your own stores? The sad reality is that we have gotten to the point where companies know that we know they are evil so they are just like whatever, let’s just take off the mask, it’s not like they’ll revolt, otherwise they would have done it already. And as angry as this makes me, I think it’s an opportunity for us to show them that we are going to do something. Keep trying to unionize friends and remember the best coworkers are coworkers who unionize and take long weed breaks.
