News that made me reveal one of my childhood crushes

Henry Kissinger is dead and the right side of social media celebrated because Kissinger orchestrated massacres around the globe. Yes, there is a right side of social media. That is the side that spends their time coming up with the best jokes of which part of hell Kissinger is in. The wrong side of social media is the part that claims Kissinger was a great man who did great things. This side of social media is the pro-colonialism side, mostly populated by world leaders, aka corporations’ representatives. The same people who said nice things about the dead war criminal are probably the same people who voted to affirm that anti-zionism and antisemitism are the same thing. These people are not legitimate and they don’t matter.

I’m happy that people are publicly celebrating Kissinger’s death because they are embracing the fact that world leaders don’t deserve our respect. We are constantly told by our governments and the media that we must revere dead politicians and monarchs. Even if the dead were truly evil. I think people twerking to celebrate Kissinger’s death is the rejection of the authority of the state on what’s acceptable behavior. Which hopefully means we are one step away from people realizing that the state doesn’t deserve our respect and should be abolished. 

Call me an optimist. No one has ever called me that, but I really think I am based on what I’m about to say. Most people know if a place is being run by terrible people, the place is also terrible and should not exist. Sure they might keep shopping there because they don’t want to go to the third page of google to find what they are looking for. I’m talking about you Amazon Prime members. People have apologized to me for shopping at Amazon because they know it’s bad. I don’t know why they are apologizing to me, they should be apologizing to the driver who has to poop in a bag to deliver their shiny winter boots. 

I digress, this isn’t about Amazon. This is about me concluding that people publicly celebrating the death of politicians means that people are more open to accepting the logic of bad places being run by bad people also applies to states. I’m not talking about just the United States of America which is the model for how to oppress everyone for the gains of the few. I’m talking about all states, all corporations, and any fitness class where the instructor yells at you. Being yelled at doesn’t motivate me, Jen. It makes me want to yell back, Stop being a capitalist tool! before taking a nap on the floor. 

I know I sound like a hopeless optimist stating that the celebration of Henry Kissinger is the beginning of the people’s revolt against the state. However, my hero and childhood crush, Steve Biko, said the “most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor, is the mind of the oppressed” and I believe him. I fully believe people’s rejection of the oppressors' command that we celebrate our dead oppressors is the beginning of us ripping our minds from the oppressor. Once we rip our minds from the people who tell us we need borders to be safe, we will be able to rip those borders too.
