I think a simple rebellion against capitalism is doing something just because you love doing it and no other reason. Which is why I’m committing to writing more poems. I’m writing these just for fun and I’m giving myself permission to call them poems. It took me a while to do that.
The mean part of me kept yelling, you’re not a poet, you can’t call what you are writing poetry. So I told the mean part of me to be quiet and that if I want to call what I’m doing poems I can.
Onto the poem…it’s called “they sit and wonder”
they sit and wonder
they sit and wonder
whether they can wonder
beyond the constraints of a world that doesn’t want them to wonder
a world that destroys wondering
a world that constrains wondering
they struggle, they fight
but what was lost cannot be recovered
it must be rebuilt
so they have to keep wondering
and together all their wondering
will build something new
something they can’t do alone
I hope you enjoyed “they sit and wonder” and I hope you give yourself time to sit and wonder with your community to build a better world.
We can do that,
❤️
