Hiii it’s time for the weekly delight! On this weekly delight I’m sharing my thoughts on all the layoffs, a poem, and photos I took. Onto the delights…

Thoughts on Federal and Corporate Layoffs

The federal government is laying people off. Meta is laying people off. It seems like every single time you look around someone is getting laid off or there is an oligarch announcing they are about to fire someone. The people doing the firing and claiming it’s in the name of efficiency are at no risk of losing their livelihood. Can we please fire these fools?

Yes, technically in their mind and in our minds we work for them, but who really controls everything? If we all decide to not go to work tomorrow, how will Donald Trump get his orange skin and how will Elon Musk eat his worms for breakfast? These people who don’t even know what the inside of a grocery store looks like get to sit on their ivory towers as they point which human being will be disposed of next.

That’s what firing someone is, it’s killing them. We don’t talk about this enough. When you fire someone, you separate them from the means to maintain their existence. We sell our labor so we can pay rent, buy food, and once in a while get shitfaced with friends. If we can’t sell our labor, we will lose access to everything needed for survival, which means we will die. Not immediately but eventually. The life expectancy of Americans is 77 while the life expectancy of unhoused people is 42-52 years old. So the government and corporations are actively murdering people! Yet when we make jokes about building guillotines, we get on a watch list.

There is a class war happening but only one side is allowed to fight, the ruling class. When we fight back we get punished. Remember when that doofus from Davos said, that the ruling class should raise the unemployment rate to 40% to remind the wage slaves who is in charge? That’s what is happening. This is the ruling class’ response to the George Floyd uprisings and quiet quitting.

The question is: What are we going to do? Are we going to sit around as Mark Zuckerberg collects more money from us to buy more chains? Are we going to let Elon Musk pay himself to buy Cyber Trucks with our dollars?

I say we don’t let them. I say we stop participating in this bullshit. Stop paying rent, stop paying for shit. If you work at Target or Walgreens, use it as your personal pantry and let your community members do the same. You don’t have to have a 3-D printer to fight the state (shout out to my main Luigi if he did it).

The poem

I wrote this poem because recently I’ve been spending most of my days applying for “jobs” on LinkedIn and getting ghosted by recruiters. The name of the poem is I’m not a worker.
