Happy Sunday! Let’s talk about news that made me angry, sad, and glad.
News that made me angry
While we are still shaken by watching an unlucky soul wading through dirty subway water to get to the train in New York City, Richard Branson a man who was knighted by the monarchy because he was evil enough to become a billionaire went into space and is now charging other rich people $250K to do the same. Yes, there are people out there who have $250K just sitting around and instead of doing the honorable thing, which is to hate themselves for being selfish, they are treating themselves with a trip to space. This makes me so angry.
News that made me sad
Israeli government forces shot and wounded over 300 Palestinians protesting an illegal settlement in the occupied West Bank and the US media didn’t cover it at all. That’s because the US media wants us all to be on board the US imperialism choo choo train and they do this by omitting facts. If you think about it, this makes sense because the largest US media companies are owned by elites like Jeff Bezos and Laurene Powell Jobs whose interests are deeply intertwined with US imperialism. This makes me sad because as long as most people keep reading corporate owned media, they’ll be clueless to the damage the US does abroad. If you don’t know about something, you don’t do anything, which is also my motto when it comes to dirty dishes in the sink. I don’t know about them.
News that made me glad
Put down that chip and celebrate the fact that Frito-Lay workers in Topeka, Kansas have been on strike against 84-hour work weeks since Monday. Okay, 84-hour work weeks are disgusting and should make you never want to eat a Cheeto ever again, but workers standing up to greedy capitalists is something to be celebrated. It’s like that moment in the movie where the bullied kid stands up to their bully, you hope that they win, but you are just happy that they are at least fighting back. I never had bullies, I also didn’t have friends so that cancels out. Nonetheless, I’m happy for the Frito-Lay workers and I’m currently imagining they are all my friends.
That’s it for the news, but don’t leave yet…
ICMYI…This week on TikTok I talked about Exxon’s campaign to destroy us all, the origin of money, and Captain Planet.
If you want to learn more about why capitalism is evil and why you should be an anarcho-communist follow Comrade Somaya.
I’m currently reading Bullshit Jobs, which means exactly what you think it does and it’s a little scary.
If you want to see me live, I’ll be doing stand up on July 14th in Manhattan and July 15th in Brooklyn at 8pm because I have an early bedtime. Come and say hi.
